Overview

The ENC14/16 is a weather-resistant enclosure that is 14 in. wide and 16 in. tall. This medium-large enclosure can house a data logger, a power supply, and one or more peripheral—depending on the size of the peripherals. A common use for the ENC14/16 is to mount a larger enclosure to the leg base of a CM110, CM115, or CM120 tripod, because the larger ENC16/18 cannot be mounted to the leg base of these tripods.

Please note that a grounding wire is not included with the enclosure.

Technical Description

The ENC14/16's backplate is prepunched with one-inch-on-center holes suitable for attaching a datalogger, power supply, and a communications or measurement and control peripheral.

  1. What are the weight and internal dimensions of the ENC14/16?
    The ENC14/16 weighs 13 lb. Its internal dimensions are 14 x 16 x 5.5 in.
  2. What are the distances, center-to-center, of the mounting holes in the back of the ENC14/16?
    12 inches.
  3. Is a fiberglass enclosure suitable for an installation in a very cold location monitoring corrosion?
    Our fiberglass enclosures can withstand very cold locations, and their fiberglass/plastic construction is very resistant to corrosion.
  4. If the copper ground terminals attached to the bottom of an enclosure are oxidized and corroded, how can they be replaced?
    The terminals do not need to be replaced. Just sand or file the corrosion away, exposing clean copper, and the fittings will continue to be functional.
  5. If the PVC fittings at the bottom of the enclosure have too small an inner diameter to accommodate all the cables passing through, is there a way to remove the PVC fittings?
    Unscrew the PVC fittings to remove them.
  6. How many mounting accessories should be ordered for each major device inside an enclosure?
    It depends on the device. Most devices have built-in mounting flanges, but some items require a separate mounting bracket.
  7. Does the enclosure have a mounting bracket inside to mount the datalogger?
    Yes. Each enclosure Campbell Scientific sells has a powder-coated backplate with holes on 1 in. centers that match the mounting flanges on our equipment for easy mounting.
  8. Can a display be put on the outside of an enclosure?

    Yes. The CD100 mounts in an enclosure door and supports all of the CR1000KD capabilities. With the CD100, historic and real-time data can be read, and instructions can be entered without opening the enclosure door.

    Other available options that display real-time data only are the CD295 and CD294.

  9. What sizes do backplates come in?

    Backplates are available in sizes designed to fit in Campbell Scientific enclosures: 10 x 12 in., 12 x 14 in., 14 x 16 in., and 16 x 18 in.

  10. How can more of the putty used to seal the cable-entry conduit of the enclosure be ordered?

    The putty is shipped as part of the 7363 Enclosure Supply Kit. To order an additional 4 ounce container of electrician’s putty, specify pn 6596.
