Hi,
I plan on deploying a CR6 with a Sonic Anemometer in the field for a month. For power Supply, I have a lead acid battery, a solar panel and a solar charge controller. Reading the manual of the cr6, I could also simply hook up the battery to the BAT terminal and the solar panel to the CHG terminal. On the other hand, I could hook up my battery and the solar panel to the solar charge controller, and that one to the BAT terminal.
Is there a difference, will my dedicated solar charge controller be more efficient than the CR6, do I lose any functions with either method?

Hi,
The first step is to check the maximum current that the controller inside the logger can control.
This is related to your photovoltaic module and battery.
As for efficiency, I believe I haven't read anything in the logger's manual.

Ok, well with my panel 50W and battery (90Ah) being quite large, I guess I'll be using the dedicated solar charge controller then.

Ok I read in the manual that the internal charger in the logger can control up to 1.2A at 20°C, so it is better to use an external charger.

Whats the major difference between internal and external charges? Any priority of using these ?
