Overview
The CS-GSM/GPRS kits feature a preconfigured COM110A modem that allows data to be collected from a remote datalogger across the GSM cellphone network. Also included are all of the necessary cables, interfaces, mounting brackets and an antenna to provide an easy to use solution out of the box. All that is needed to get the system up and running is a SIM obtained from the GSM service provider who provides good coverage at the intended site of operation.
Configuration of GSM and GRPS mobile communication kits sold in Europe containing the COM110A modem is made simple with the Mobile Data Assistant software utility used to configure. The utility provides set-up and diagnostic features and can be used to view signal strength. Mobile Data Assistant is available free from our downloads page.
Note: The COM110A replaces the COM110. It is functionally equivalent but in a smaller package.

Technical Description
SMS messages can be sent as alarms or as a method of sending data to a cellphone or PC. More advanced dataloggers can also be programmed to respond to commands within received SMS messages either sent manually or by another datalogger.
The COM110 modem has very low power consumption allowing it to be left on, in many applications, allowing incoming calls all the time. For very low power applications, it can be switched off at certain times of the day using the power switch built into some dataloggers or using an optional PSW12 solid state switch.
The CS-GSM kit includes an interface and cables to allow connection of the module to the CS I/O port of most dataloggers. The CS-GSM-RS232 kit includes a special cable for connection to the RS232 port on dataloggers that have this port and where the port is free for use with the module. The GSM packages are configured for dial-up (CSD) operation but can also be reconfigured for GPRS use.
The CS-GPRS package allows GPRS communications between the datalogger and remote PCs over the internet. The package includes the SC105 interface (for lowest power use and high speed in GPRS mode) and an additional GPRS specific manual.
GPRS support is built into the CR800 series, CR1000 and CR3000 dataloggers.
The CS-GPRS package can also be used for dial-up access.
